The Mercedes 540K was introduced at the Paris Motor Show in 1936. Built by Daimler-Benz it was the last of their large and fast grand touring pre-war cars. The 540K was designed by Hermann Ahrens and built to order by Karrosserie Sindelfingen, the Mercedes-Benz in-house coach building subsidiary. In this image Amy captures the beautiful formed swoop of the graceful fender line and the chrome exhaust. The result is an image of sculptural grace crafted in red and chrome.

Photographed at the Goodwood Revival 2014.
